Attendance

Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of school success. We appreciate your partnership in helping every Redwood student be present, on time, and ready to learn.

Office hours & Contact

The Redwood office is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM. You can reach us by phone at 707-961-2860.

Arrival at school

Students may arrive on campus no earlier than 7:30 AM. No supervision is available before that time. Students arriving between 7:30 and 8:00 AM should enter through the exterior cafeteria door. At 8:00 AM, the south gates near the front office open.

If your child can exit your vehicle independently, you may use the drop-off lane in front of the school along Lincoln St. If your child needs assistance, or if you need to visit the office, please park across the street in the church parking lot and walk your child onto campus. Students should not cross the street without a crossing guard or guardian present.

Students arriving after 8:20 AM must check in at the office to receive a late slip before going to class.

Dismissal

At dismissal, students will ride the bus home, go to Kudos for Kids (if registered), or be picked up by a guardian. If you are picking up your child, please wait on the grass at the front of the school. Please do not stand in the street or along the bus line, so that classes can pass safely.

Absences

Regular school attendance is a strong indicator of school success. Students benefit greatly from daily contact with same-age peers and from the learning opportunities provided by their classroom teacher. We encourage all families to build a strong habit of good attendance.

A student is considered chronically absent when they have missed 10% or more of school days.

When your child is absent, guardians are responsible for notifying the school with the reason. You may clear an absence in any of the following ways:

  • Through ParentSquare
  • By sending a written note with your child upon their return
  • By calling the school office
  • In person at the school office

Students with three or more unexcused absences will be required to meet with the principal. If poor attendance continues, students may be referred to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB), which involves collaboration with community agencies.

Tardiness

Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 8:20 AM. Arriving more than 30 minutes late counts as a "late tardy." Three unexcused late tardies equal one unexcused absence.

Being tardy limits your child's instructional time and can disrupt learning for other students. Thank you for helping your Redwood student arrive on time each day.

Early Pickup During School Hours

If you need to pick up your child during the school day, all guardians must sign their child out in the school office. Children will only be released to individuals listed on the emergency card, or to someone with prior written or verbal permission from a parent or guardian.

Families with court custody orders should provide a copy of current paperwork to the office to avoid confusion or conflict at pickup.

No child may leave school grounds without approval from the school office.
